Position Overview The Comms. Partnerships & Engagement Intern will support United Nations Foundation communications partnerships, engagements, projects, and events. This includes meeting preparation, communications and outreach, relationship management support, research, and tracking. The intern will be integral in assisting with the Foundation’s preparations for the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in September 2025 and coordination of the Global Goals Week coalition.
The Communications, Partnerships & Engagement Intern will work with various teams across the Foundation, UN departments and agencies, external partners, and the creative community. The intern will be a member of the New York Global Communications & Engagement (GCE) team, reporting to the Advisor, Partnerships & Special Initiatives.
This is a hybrid role based in New York.
This is a paid opportunity from May 27th, 2025, to August 29th, 2025, and offers an hourly compensation rate of $17.50 - $20 per hour.
Essential Functions
Support a wide range of partnerships, engagements, and events related to the Foundation’s activations around the UN General Assembly (UNGA), e.g., planning and preparation, note-taking, tracking, research, writing, etc.
Project support for the Global Goals Week initiative, involving partner meeting coordination and material preparation, database management, and communications support.
Assist with creative community partnerships (e.g., digital influencers, talent agencies, etc.) and engagements through research, communications, outreach, and tracking.
Support priority UN Foundation events and community convenings, e.g., coordinating logistics, conducting research, liaising internally and externally, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Selection Criteria
Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a graduate of a college or university.
Background in communications, public relations, events, and non-profit work will be advantageous.
Knowledge of or interest in international development will be an advantage.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent project coordination skills, organization skills, and strong attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and handle stress.
Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive, etc.) is essential.
Familiarity with WordPress and/or Mailchimp will be an advantage.
Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the internet.
Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week during Eastern work hours.
