Position Overview

The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) is a global organization that enables, influences, and accelerates local transitions to clean cooking solutions. As the steward of the clean cooking ecosystem, CCA's activities are focused on transformative governance, enterprise empowerment, innovative financing, user centricity, and outreach ad influence. Clean cooking transforms lives by improving health, protecting the climate and environment, empowering women, and helping consumers save time and money. In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, CCA is working to achieve universal access to clean cooking by 2030.
 
The Summer 2024 Communications Intern will be an integral member of CCA’s Advocacy & Communications Team. The Intern will assist in all aspects of CCA’s internal and external communications, including social media outreach, graphic design, website management, creative writing, email marketing, copyediting, and special projects. Strong candidates will have experience managing websites and social media channels, strong graphic design and writing skills, and a demonstrated interest in learning about communications tactics for reaching targeted audiences.   
 
This is a paid opportunity from May 28, 2024, through September 2, 2024, and offers an hourly compensation rate of $17.50 per hour for individuals currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 8 months of graduation) an associate degree or bachelor’s degree program; and $20 per hour for individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program.

This position is remote. Access to a computer with a reliable internet connection is required.
 

Essential Functions
  • Draft messaging and design graphics to be shared across CCA's social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Linkedin; 
  • Assist with ongoing website management, including posting and updating content and related research; 
  • Help write and promote communications content, including press releases, blog posts, feature articles, factsheets, and other written materials; 
  • Support the design of branded collateral, including social graphics, presentations, flyers, and other digital materials; 
  • Support knowledge management and thought leadership initiatives including CCA’s quarterly newsletter, monthly highlights, monthly media round-up, and more; 
  • Support the planning and execution of CCA events; 
  • Support CCA’s advocacy efforts, including brainstorming engagement opportunities for new and existing champions and youth advocates; 
  • Participate in relevant meetings, such as team meetings, all-staff meetings, internal webinars, and other learning opportunities; and 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Selection Criteria
  • Undergraduate interns must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from (within 8 months of graduation) an associate degree or bachelor’s degree program. 
  • Graduate interns must be enrolled in a graduate program. 
  • Strong graphic design skills. 
  • Strong writing skills. 
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in global health, energy access, women’s empowerment, and climate action. 
  • Creative mindset with the ability to problem-solve and work under pressure. 
  • A strong willingness to take initiative and a desire to learn. 
  • Skills in CRM/CMS platforms (WordPress), Canva, Adobe Creative Suite programs, Mailchimp, and social media management tools (Hootsuite) are desirable but not required. 
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy. 
  • Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet. 
  • Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
