Position Overview

The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD), hosted at the United Nations Foundation, is a dynamic international network bringing together over 650 partners including governments, international organizations, private companies, civil society organizations, and many others.  We make connections and broker partnerships to improve data production, access and use to drive better decisions to end poverty, improve environmental sustainability and advance equal opportunities for all.  The Global Partnership Secretariat, within which this role is based, supports the network by convening and connecting partners to catalyze solutions to development issues and leverage the power of data to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

With such a large number of partners, a multi-faceted budget, a global program of events and meetings, and a growing secretariat located throughout the world, the Global Partnership is a complex entity to coordinate and administer.  We are looking for a highly experienced, organized and competent manager who will play a key role in ensuring that the Partnership functions effectively.  In particular, the role will: (a) manage the contracting process for the secretariat (b) provide support to the Associate Director of Operations on budget monitoring and financial planning and (c) work closely with the rest of the operations team to ensure all other operations processes are running smoothly.

This position is based in Washington, DC (Hybrid work schedule).

Essential Functions


  • Manage all contracting for GPSDD
    • Ensure GPSDD procurement and due diligence policies are followed by team members.
    • Liaise with UNF’s central contracts team to draft contractual agreements and contract amendments for GPSDD, adhering to UNF templates and policies. This includes but is not limited to consultant, hotel, and vendor contracts, licensing agreements, letters of invitation, and sub-grant agreements.
    • Mediate contract review/negotiations with third parties and guide agreements through internal approval processes.
    • Ensure adherence with and compliance to all UN Foundation policies and donor rules and regulations.
    • Liaise with vendors, consultants, and grantees to process agreements and reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain appropriate file documentation for all work products, for accumulation and retention of institutional knowledge.
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to inquiries from within the organization, as well as any external audit requests.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the UNF agreement process (for both contracts and grants), and when to utilize the proper templates accordingly (As applicable to the role).
  • Draft and review agreements and maintain an understanding of all agreement terms and applicable flow-downs, consulting with UNF’s finance/contracts team as needed (As applicable to the role).
  • Attend training sessions provided by UNF’s contracts team to maintain and keep up to date with UNF’s current policies and procedures (As applicable to the role).
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of UNF’s Salesforce database to be able to process and track agreements, extract information and prepare reports (As applicable to the role).

Financial Management:

  • Manage project budgets, tracking revenue and expenses across the organization and workstreams
    • Query financial databases (Salesforce, Financial Edge, Quickbooks), then manipulate data in Excel to maintain a live budget model.
    • Ensure correct allocations of revenues and expenses across project budgets.
    • Track consultants’ deliverables and manage accounts payable (invoicing/payment), including processing invoices.
  • Develop high-level funding briefs and other project briefing documents for project managers and others, as directed.
  • Model different budget scenarios, ad-hoc, to inform decision making of project managers.
  • Prepare financial reports for funders and liaise with them as needed regarding financial issues.

Internal Coordination:

  • Develop and implement new tools and strategies to optimize workflows and facilitate team’s collaborative work around procurements and budgeting, including formalizing and documenting team policies.
  • Guide the team with standards for the organization, including, but not limited to, the GPSDD procurement policy and due diligence requirements.
  • Assist with business planning.
  • Serve as internal liaison with the UN Foundation's Contracts and Finance teams to ensure compliance with UN Foundation rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with major event planning, as needed.
  • Ensure excellent customer service by providing timely and accurate information to team members, the UN Foundation, and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5-7 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent operations, project management, organizational, budgeting, and logistical abilities.
  • Experience developing various agreement types (contracts, grants, contributions, MOUs) and negotiating with third parties.
  • Experience managing budgets and developing financial reporting for funders.
  • Spanish language abilities required.
  • Experience negotiating and interpreting contractual clauses related to data management and data privacy preferred.
  • Interest, knowledge or work experience in data communities, multi-sector alliances, or international development preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure, and prioritize multiple, competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team, remotely and in person, and with other colleagues across teams in an efficient, coordinated and flexible manner.
  • Ability to drive projects from inception to completion and work independently.
  • Continuous learning skills and the ability to synthesize information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and mastery of Excel.
  • Ability to travel internationally 1-3 times per year.
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
