Position Overview
In Our Common Agenda, the UN Secretary-General recognized the growing centrality of young people as a focus of international collective action and as shapers of the international system. In this new framework, the Secretary-General describes the renewal of solidarity between generations as an essential foundation for the delivery of all his recommendations.
The intern will join the flagship initiative Our Future Agenda, which aims to provide young people with new leadership opportunities, build a high-ambition coalition of youth-led and youth-focused organizations, and deliver impact with and for young people and future generations over the next three years.
Essential Functions
- Support the Next Generation Fellows program, including planning, onboarding and engagement.
- Support the delivery of high-level events, publications, and communications related to the launch of the Unlock the Future coalition as a forum for political and strategic alignment, for action and for advocacy, and for more strategic financing to young changemakers.
- Support Action Group coordination and engagement, including providing communications, research, and project management support.
- Support partner outreach and management, including tracking, planning and database management.
Selection Criteria
- Experience working on tackling challenges facing current and future generations and a commitment to collective action – in their community, society, regionally, globally, or in digital spaces. Knowledge of or interest in international development will be an advantage.
- Excellent project coordination skills, organization skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter, and to work flexibly in a collaborative environment
- Familiarity with content requirements for a range of social media and digital marketing channels. An eye for design, with the ability to create artwork and other digital assets being desirable but not essential.
- Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive, etc.) essential.
- Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months of graduation) of a college or university.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle stress.
- Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy.
- Must have a personal laptop computer and access to the Internet.
- Must be available to work a maximum of 29 hours per week.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
